Join us for short presentations and a panel discussion on the ecological issues facing the Coorong and proposed solutions to restore and secure the long-term health of this important ecosystem. The iconic and ecologically significant Coorong suffered devastating effects from the Millenium Drought and years of low freshwater input. Parts of the system have shown positive signs of recovery, however several characteristics, of the Coorong South Lagoon in particular, have continued to experience substantial and sustained decline, and further action is now required to restore the ecological character of the Coorong. Several solutions have been proposed to restore this important ecosystem and ensure a healthy, resilient future for the Coorong in the face of climate change. Recent scientific and technical investigations have addressed key knowledge gaps and led to the development of proposed solutions for restoration. Come and hear from researchers and stakeholders to learn more about the issues and potential solutions, with a chance to pose your questions to a panel of experts.
